Mule Deer Hunts

The Blackwater area of the North Caribou Region is one of the breeding grounds for Mule Deer. It was for this reason that Itcha Mountain Outfitters 2005 ltd decided to purchase this area. The population of mule deer has increasing with the recent changes to Mule Deer Harvest regulations and the signs of increased population in most areas within thisĀ region are on the rise. The Quality of Mule deer you can expect here is 150 to 170 class Bucks.

We only hunt in the late season and this is short so there is very limited availability. Our Mule Deer are very nocturnal and hunting is tough. Though the populations are good, and you will see lots of signs but actual deer sightings will be minimal. To harvest a good buck you will have to work for it! The terrain is thick timber, steep canyons, and cold weather. Given all of this you can expect to harvest a good quality buck. The chances of taking a 180 + bucks are there, but the old adage “they don’t get that big by being stupid” holds truer here than any where else.
